Our teachers
Our work in local schools has brought our way great teachers who have dedicated their lives to inspiring hope, igniting imagination and instilling a love for learning in the children of Uganda. Here are some of the amazing teachers we have been privileged to work with.
My transition to ECE was a pivotal moment in my life. When Tusome Africa first came to our school and started engaging the school in setting up an ECE centre, I knew my time had come. Finally, someone else was speaking my language and the passion we shared was real and our connection was instant. I made the decision then as the opportunity to work with nursery-aged children was an exciting prospect I could not let pass by. I have not looked back since making this move; it was one of the best decisions I have ever made
Meet Kwagala Martha, a 21-year-old wife and mother, whose life took an unexpected turn before she embarked on her path as a paraeducator. Martha used to spend her days as a farmer, nurturing the soil and caring for crops. However, her heart always yearned for something more, a dream she had cherished since childhood - becoming a teacher.
That childhood dream of standing in front of a classroom, guiding young minds and sharing the gift of knowledge never left her, even as she pursued farming. So, when the opportunity to become a paraeducator came her way, Martha knew it was a chance she couldn't let slip by.
In the world of education, there are individuals whose dedication and passion inspire the seeds of growth and success. Nganda Isa, a seasoned headteacher at Bukoyo Muslim Primary School, is one such individual. With a teaching career that spans more than three decades, Nganda's journey was ignited by the influence of his own headteacher, a figure who left an indelible mark on his aspirations.
“He would come into school always dressed sharply and with very nice shoes,” says Nganda. “He spoke with authority and walked with an air of confidence. He was the ultimate definition of success to us.”
In the world of education, there are individuals who embark on their path with unforeseen twists and profound impact. Margaret Mabangi, the esteemed headteacher at Canon Ibula Primary School, is one such remarkable figure. Her journey into teaching was not a predetermined path but rather a result of life's unexpected turns, shaped by her aunt's guidance and a chance encounter.
Margaret's story begins when she was working in an office, living a life far from the classroom. However, her trajectory changed dramatically when she was called upon to be the primary caregiver for her sister. It was during this pivotal moment that Margaret's aunt, a principal at a teacher's training college, entered her life. “
